I use Avast on all my PCs, it works well with very little system usage. I'm not a fan of Windows Defender, it does a decent job of actively protecting you against malware, but it is very poor at removal. I have tested alot of different malware removal programs and found that Webroot Spysweeper removes the most from an infected system. A heavily infected system requires the use of multiple programs in order to remove all threats.
