if they insist on coming in because they've already established that transmissions are coming from your house, identify the specific device that's at fault, instruct you to turn it off then leave, then it's open to court interpretation whether that's "reasonable search".

as long as the FCC focuses their efforts on the use of devices which transmit on frequencies for which an FCC license is required, and not on the possession of such devices, they have a good chance.

this is a notable difference between the FCC and your typical police force, which regards possession of a great many things as crimes. the FCC doesn't appear to care so much about what you possess, only whether your actual transmissions are in compliance with their regulations.

for example, the police might hassle you for merely carrying a police radio, but the FCC won't bother you unless you actually use it to transmit on a frequency you're not licensed for, and they won't even do that unless somebody complains to them about it.
