True, but I also thought Uber wouldn't work in Houston due to urban sprawl and was pretty amazed at how good and cheap it was last time I stayed downtown. Getting to Hobby was super cheap and it was negligible to go back and forth from the heights and other areas you would want to go inside the loop - back in the days Taxis were rare, unreliable, and stupid expensive.
