I think she does think he can help. But she doesn't think its going to be the Blackfish saving the day alone either. The letter she's sending via raven has to be to littlefinger. The knights of the Vale would be enough to win the day all by themselves.
I'm curious about the Hound as well. I am hoping he's just wrong, and that they were from the brave companions. And that somehow that's what gets him back with Thoros, and together they hunt the 3 down. I agree there is something missing here. I'm not willing to blame this on bad writing yet. There may be more to this story.
