HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been warned
Zouji Wrote:Granted, I think that if Hodor could have decided for himself, he might have ended up doing the same thing. We will never know.

Not to say it won't work out different in the books but in the show I think you do know.

Bran warged Hodor from the past but generally that was Hodor running and holding the door.

When a person is warging and being warged their eyes go white and other than the initial shock to wake Hodor I don't believe he was warged. Basically Hodor was only warged to get his ass moving. Once up and moving I believe it was Hodor the entire time. Bran reached through young Hodor to reach the old Hodor but generally Hodor knew what he had to do since he had seen it all before in his first encounter with Bran.

Hodor did exactly what he was told he should do from childhood. Hold the Door. Bran wasn't controlling Hodor when they escaped. It at least was different this time vs. the other times.

That is why the Raven brought him to that point in time and never took him out even with them being surrounded by Wights and Walkers. The Raven actually encouraged Bran on. They weren't there to see his dad or his grandfather. The Raven brought Bran exactly to that point in time where Bran needed to be to break Hodor's mind to ensure Hodor was exactly at the point he had to be to save Bran's life later on.

I think what broke the young Hodor is he could see what was happening to his old self. He basically lived through his own death as a youth.

The sad irony being it was Bran's fault why Hodor was who he was. Once again the supposed "good guy" sacrificing an innocent life in the name of... what?
