Yup yup,
I picked up the game Friday night and couldn't stop playing until 11 pm Sunday evening. Keep in mind, I get up for work at 4:30 am so that's a long night for me.
I rolled up a DE caster (getting back to Mori's roots) and the snare, nuke, nuke, nuke mindless killing from EQ is only accentuated with the addition of a DoT (resisted half the time) and the fact that I can heal myself after fighting. I picked up the Heal target spell, but trying to use it to keep Turnip alive was pretty silly. The nice thing is, L2 doesn't confuse you with a endless choice of nukes like EQ, half of which are useless after a certain level, and 25% of which are useless at any level.
So, PvE excitement will not keep you coming back for more...
But PvP? Very cool. Of course, I got one shot killed less than an hour into playing the game by a red n00b killer, but everybody is looking for those guys so everytime one shows up, people are shouting all over the zone. 5 levels later, I got my shot at another red n00b killer and it was a good pulse pounding, high adrenaline fight. Didn't last too long, but being able to loot items, or lose items, really adds to the excitement. In many many ways, this game remind me of the good ol' early days of VZ, for better or worse. I like the concept of team oriented PvP as the goal of higher level play like DAoC, but unlike DAoC, the one on one PvP action anyplace and anytime puts "some" interest back into the level grind. Throw in the fact that there are no teammates until you join a clan, and you have some serious potential here. Like Grumpy said though, the karma system really gives you pause.
Finally, if you like eye candy, you'll love this game. It's a beautiful, seamless world with tons of detail and plenty of interesting places to go around your home n00b city. I'm looking forward to exploring. And, you have to hand it to those crazy Koreans if your a heterosexual male. They had a single minded pursuit when it came to characeter models that I can really appreciate.
