I really enjoy my BenQ XL2420T, but then again I'm not getting it for great colors but for the 120hz, black equalization, great response time and a few other nifty features. You can pick up the T model (no 3d glasses) for 420$, or pay a bit more for the included glasses if you want them and grab them at 500$.

If you want to stick with Asus I had a VG278H, not bad on the colors, 120hz, Gloss free screen, and 27" screen. Stand doesn't feel real sturdy, but never had any problems with it. Only con I had was the price (near 700$).
