Meh, the first season was about as faithful to a book as any series I've seen. Probably could have gone without the slurping sound when Loras was blowing Renly (who was flaming in the books too), but other than that it was solid.
I am confused as to why they are fucking with Littlefinger's character in the series now, it is totally not in character for him to have gone up to Cercei and talked shit like that. He doesn't pick fights head on until he knows he has won. Probably why he is one of the few people something fucking horrible hasn't happened to yet.
Also, I applaud any decision by HBO which limits the amount of people who have to be subjected to fucking True Blood.
The new Sorkin show on HBO is going to be good:
