Ok,my old 1.2 GHz AMD proc. falls just behind the minimum requirements for Trials of Atlantis, though my computer exceeds the recommended in every other dept. So, I'm looking for advice on getting a new proc/motherboard. What do you all think would be the best buy for speed, stability, and cost?

a friend of mine just put together a complete new system (minus vid card) w/ 1 gig of ram for ~$500. I think the board/chip was a couple hunderd a tops.
Athlon 2700+ w/ Asus A7N8X (i think) board.

Gotta agree with Sig on this one...
I have a Athlon XP 2800+/A7N8X cobo and it is working GREAT! I am very pleased with the performance I have gotten out of it.
