Ultramarines - Zirak - 11-30-2010 Warhammer 40K movie for fans of the IP. The story is by Dan Abnett, my favorite Warhammer author. Re: Ultramarines - Uncle Shags - 12-08-2010 It looks like the only way to get this is to buy the $40 collectors edition? Boo... Re: Ultramarines - Grunldesnapp - 12-10-2010 Zirak......do you play BFG?...........Dan is my fav as well. Re: Ultramarines - Zirak - 12-10-2010 Nope - had to do a quick search to find out what it was. I, sadly, don't have a gaming group where I live so have to do the majority of my gaming on the computer. A bunch of old college buddies gather at my house about once a quarter or so for a weekend of gaming but we primarily stick to RPG's. I'll have to take a look at the BFG stuff over the weekend where game sites aren't blocked - what little I can see from work this morning looks interesting. If nothing else, the ships could be cool to have. One of the RPG's we play is a WH40K inspired space opera using Hero System rules. It could be neat to have ships to move around and play with when we have space combat. Re: Ultramarines - Grunldesnapp - 12-11-2010 Right now my group is scattered, one of us got out of the Navy, im in Bahrain, two of my guys are in norfolk. Its fun as a mofo, loved assembling the ships, building up fleet lists, had even more fun destroying people with my Nurgle fleet. I have a 3k Chaos fleet, 2k Imperial, and around 750 points for the other fleets. Anyways im looking forward to this movie (not a fan of the smurfs though). Hope they do more.....like Guant's Ghosts or the Heresy. Re: Ultramarines - Zirak - 12-13-2010 Ahh, the Ghosts - that whole series of books is awesome. And the Eisenhorn books - now there is a story of corruption that is worth reading. That is the kind of slippery slope, every step taken for the best of intentions story that I was hoping for from George Lucas in Star Wars and was also hoping for in the Horus Heresy series of books. Re: Ultramarines - Grunldesnapp - 12-16-2010 Im rereading the Ghosts right now. I just love this writing. Re: Ultramarines - Breand - 12-16-2010 They had a stand at the NYC Comic Con promoting the movie....behold: my son the newest recruit. Re: Ultramarines - Grunldesnapp - 12-18-2010 This detachment in Bahrain im rereading my Black Library collection instead of watching movies. After im done with Guant im starting over with the Heresy. Man i love Black Library books. Re: Ultramarines - Zirak - 12-20-2010 Got my copy of the movie on Friday and watched it over the weekend. I'm not sure how well a person who is not a fan of 40K will like the movie but I quite enjoyed it. It had a slow start but I didn't really mind because I was getting to see 40K. And then when the action finally got rolling... BURN HERETIC! It was a fun watch. Re: Ultramarines - Grunldesnapp - 12-22-2010 My wife wanted to bash my skull in after my muttering for the Emperor for the millionth time. That and Grandfather Nurgle loves you. Re: Ultramarines - Grunldesnapp - 12-22-2010 I watched it, they should have brought in some outsiders to assist with the writing (assist!). I liked it but it could have been allot better. They could have had a better script writer on it. For a squad of the ultimate warriors they seemed like a National Guard unit getting lost in the woods. I do hope they make more but i hope they learn from this one and either go full bore with the mythos (and not worry about outsiders) or shake up the writing a bit more so non fan boys will find the 40k movies interesting. Re: Ultramarines - Zouji - 12-29-2010 The followers of the False Emperor shall perish and their souls feed to the Warp. Re: Ultramarines - Grunldesnapp - 12-29-2010 Grandfather Nurgle approves of your comment. |
