Automatic Forum Login - Slamz - 02-17-2004

Anyone else having automatic login problems?

For some reason the forums won't automatically log me in if I connect using purgare.net. This may be because the cookie uses "host10.dnns.net" and I'm loath to try and change that lest it cause something bad to happen like the nuclear destruction of all mankind.

However, if I go straight to http://host10.dnns.net/~purgare/forum/index.php it seems to work fine with the auto-login. I'm sure it's a cookie issue.

I could try playing with that, I just want to find out if anyone other than me is having this problem.

I think that should go away once I make all the references purgare.net. It has something to with being a third party cookie, which is usually blocked by IE. I should have that all changed over soon... i hope...

Ok I made the changes to the site...

But still no automatic forum login when using www.purgare.net

Is there somewhere in the config files for phpbb that designate a web address anywhere? That is the only thing that I can think of, because I tried purgare.net in its own window. That would negate the whole third party cookie thing from happening and it still didnt work.

Let me know what you find...

To add to my above statement... I was doing some more checing and realized that when in its own window using purgare.net and you log in... once you press the login button... it changes the address over to the host10 version.

This makes it seem that there is definitely a web address setting somewhere in the congif files for phpbb that is still pointing back to the host10 way of wrinting it.

There is. I'll see if I can change that.

Either it'll fix it or I'll never be able to log in again and will have to reset everything. :-p

Oh good, looks fixed now. Changed the forum site and cookie to purgare.net, so after one more login it should stick as long as you use that "remember me" button.

So if you're going straight to host10.dnns.net, the autologin might now NOT work anymore, switch to purgare.net

Love the new graphics, too. The pandas rock, we're keepin that.

I'm having problems posting from work and it's only this board. I try to post or even log out and i get an "invalid session" error. Sad

- Slamz - 02-24-2004

Are you coming through http://purgare.net?

Sounds like a cookie problem. The session timer here is set to something massive.

test... from work

Ok, it works now. I went thru the purgare.net link and everything is bright and shiny again. Big Grin
