Streaming - Grieve - 06-08-2013 As a companion to the Zero TV thread, thought I'd create this thread to track worthwhile stuff carried on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc (since it isn't easy to find the few good things amongst the drek). Here's a start: Movies Centurion (Netflix) - Pretty good "Romans behind enemy lines" action flick, with Michael Fassbender (Prometheus, X-Men First Class) and a bunch of other Brits Senna (Netflix) - Probably appeals more to Brits, but if you grew up with Formula One in the 70s and 80s, this is an awesome documentary about the tragic Ayrton Senna, with great racing footage. Ironclad (Netflix) - Bit of a rip-off of the Magnificent Seven/Seven Samurai, but with Knights Templar. A little ropey in places, but not bad overall. Extremely violent and graphic. End of Watch (Netflix) - Slow moving, but excellent cop drama from the guy that wrote Training Day and the original Fast and Furious. Super 8 (Netflix) - Great ET-esque movie from JJ Abrams and Spielberg. One of the reason I'm so glad Abrams got the Star Wars franchise. Drive (Netflix) - A true "car movie", in the sense of old Steve McQueen flicks from the seventies rather than Fast and Furious. Another very violent one. Zulu (Netflix) - Aw man, what a classic. |
