Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Breand - 06-09-2015
Cersei getting thrown in jail is a nice payoff. Dany getting saved by her dragon. It does happen.
Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Jakensama - 06-09-2015 Dharus Wrote:You forgot Brienne of Tarth... haha! Shes far too annoying a character to be a good guy... Then again, so is Danny - the most entitled person in all of this world.. Must be the westeros equivalent of a Millenial. Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Skelas - 06-10-2015 Well, i'd argue that Cersei's situation isn't truly a win since I find the sparrows particularly creepy. And Drogon pretty much just ran away with Dany. Neither for me was a 'fuck yeah!' moment, but could be just me. Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Jakensama - 06-10-2015 I still think it would be funny as hell if she got Greyscale when Jorah touched her. Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Skelas - 06-10-2015 The camera lingered on both Jorah touching Dany's hand, and Dany holding Missande's hand. Not even book readers know what's going to happen next, well at least with Dany. EDIT: Missande, I think...... whatever the hell her lil handmaidens name is. Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - OrsunVZ - 06-10-2015 Skelas Wrote:Well, i'd argue that Cersei's situation isn't truly a win since I find the sparrows particularly creepy. I'm with you Skelas, I am terrified of the season ending with the major cliffhanger we've been referencing. Still my wife (who's never read the books), is totally dialed into the show, and doesn't seem to be fatiguing at all. If anything, it is going in the other direction for her.
If Jon gets stabby stabbed, they need to at least give a clear hope that he lives, or people are going to totally lose their shit (my wife included).
Quote:Thats the real takeaway from this show - evil will always prevail, because good is dumb. This pretty much encompasses the greatest fear I have for the show. Varis, Tyrion, and Jon are really the only 'good-guy' characters left that I have any interest in. Dany's entitlement (and this may be an acting thing) is starting to get on my nerves a bit, but maybe this vacation with Drogon will help be a character transformation for Dany. Arya's arc is painfully dull at the moment though. I'm still very much all in though, and I still think about episode 8. Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Dharus - 06-10-2015 I'm actually wondering if the book readers are going to get a shock in this next episode. Catelyn Stark was pretty much cut out after the red wedding but in the book she "lived" on.
I wonder if Jon Snow's death, which many book readers feel he will get resurrected, doesn't actually happen in the show.
It would make sense if there is a continuing storyline there but the HBO guys don't want to deal with the extra fluff. Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Jakensama - 06-10-2015 Yeah but Zombie Cat wasn't particularly integral to the story. Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Vllad - 06-10-2015 Jakensama Wrote:Yeah but Zombie Cat wasn't particularly integral to the story. The question is does what happen (that thing none of us are talking about) really integral to the story as well? If that character has more long term things to do then how the book ended was just a cliff hanger for cliff hanger sakes and may have no real value to the story. If this is the end of that character then you are right it must be integral to the story. If this is the end of that character then I can't imagine this story ending well for me. Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Jakensama - 06-10-2015
Well (as I said before, I've discussed this a few times this week and too lazy to go back) I think that he is most likely Azor Ahai from her prophecy as most of her prophecies kind of apply to him more than stannis. And I think she is going to rez him using her power (which diminishes peoples humanity in some way). So yeah - I think its probably too significant to write around in this storyline. If it's just a random killing to shock people, yeah i'll be pretty over it all too. The only reason I think they might not kill Jon is that in the book Shireen and Melisandre are still at the wall, so she will likely use Shireen's King's blood to rez Jon. If they had her do that to win the Winterfell battle, then obviously it's harder to do that. Maybe he gets stabbed next season.
Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Vllad - 06-11-2015 Jakensama Wrote:
We I think that he is most likely Azor Ahai from her prophecy as most of her prophecies kind of apply to him more than stannis. Did I miss something?
Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Jakensama - 06-11-2015
Part of the prophecy was "When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again."
Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Skelas - 06-11-2015 So O-face, have you intimated to your wife that some serious shit might go down in the finale? Has she pressed you for what? Just curious..... Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Dharus - 06-11-2015 Jakensama Wrote:
Part of the prophecy was "When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again."
I always read into that prophecy to mean Danny when the dragon's hatched. Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Vllad - 06-11-2015 Jakensama Wrote:
Part of the prophecy was "When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again."

You are taking a rather liberal use of being born again to mean resurrected. Also those words were from the red bitch from Jon's POV which Martin clearly states is twisted towards the POV of the character when the narrative is told. The only cannon from Martin himself is, There will come a day after a long summer when the stars bleed and the cold breath of darkness falls heavy on the world. In this dread hour a warrior shall draw from the fire a burning sword. And that sword shall be Lightbringer, the Red Sword of Heroes, and he who clasps it shall be Azor Ahai come again, and the darkness shall flee before him This was read I believe by Tarley reading one of the old books from Asshai that were in Old Town? I never once took that Azor was someone who is resurrected, he is someone who had some kind of quest dealing with a sword. In order to be Azor you have to be able to wield Lightbringer. If you can't wield the sword of pure fire you aren't Azor. That is really the only requirement. Stannis and the Red Bitch faked that part which is why we have always known Stannis is not Azor and the Red Bitch is a liar. This is why I guess you and I never agreed on Jon's death. I don't in anyway connect ressurection and Azor since the prophecy is specifically about the ability to wield a paticular sword. I still don't think that any kind of ressurection makes him Azor. That is why I thought the attack on Jon was likely his death and you thought his death was just another step in the story.
Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Jakensama - 06-11-2015
Theres a seperate prophecy about the prince who was promised, which I think I got mistaken - but I think they are the same person and she tends to use both language. We'll see, I think its too convenient that she is right there when he dies, she was seeing him in the fire in her POV, and she's likely going to burn Shireen to do something in the upcoming book. If he kills this major a character just because, it will be pretty poor narrative. Ned was okay because it was only the first book, and Robb was never a major character.. Also the prophecy says something about blood of dragons, which I guess could technically be Stannis since they have some small amount of Targaryen blood in them (like every Noble house), but would make much more sense for Jon who is the child of a true blooded Targaryen.
Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Dharus - 06-11-2015
Its either Jon or Danny. With the red priestess with Stannis (contrary to the book) in the snowstorm I think we'll learn Jon's fate right here. If he dies, then Danny is probably Azor Ahai and that'll pretty much settles the series. Pretty crappy in my opinion if it plays out that way.
Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Vllad - 06-11-2015 Jakensama Wrote:
Theres a seperate prophecy about the prince who was promised, which I think I got mistaken - but I think they are the same person and she tends to use both language. I thought Azor and the Prince were two different people. I know the Red Bitch combines them but to me it is clear even Maesters have a better understanding of those prophecies than she does. As you can see I don't trust the Red Bitch. Like Dharus I thought Danny was the prince which seems obvious to me and Jon was Azor. Danny irritates me and if she is both Azor and the Prince this story is going to suck. That would also mean that Lightbringer is not a sword since Danny can't fight her way out of a wet paper bag. I still think they are separate. Their still has to be a third rider but I thought that would be warging. In my mind Jon, Danny and Bran where the three finalist to fight the others. That is why I was pissed about Jon's stabbing. That lead me to think Jon is nothing really special and more than likely dead. Given the lack of people to root for in Martin's books I wanted Jon to turn out to be something. The other alternative is Jon's stabbing was just a cliff hanger which is something I hate more than Jon not being Azor. I have always assumed Martin would die of a heart attack and leave his work on the cliff hanger. Old fat people shouldn't be writing cliff hangers.
Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Dharus - 06-11-2015
i think the sword is Jon's... however its really Jorges. That's the connection to me. Jon dies, sword is given to someone (sam or the spider?) and finds him. He's dieing and gives it to Danny because he's in love blah blah. Valaryn steel reacts to her dragon gift. She unites the people of westeros with dragons and blazing sword even if she doesnt fight. She saves the people of westeros after the dead kill lots of people including Stannis.
Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Jakensama - 06-11-2015 Dany being the hero to save everyone at the end seems a bit too formulaic... I see him like Ned Stark and he has been compared to Ned as well. I'm 60/40 on the issue leaning to the negative outcome. I agree with Jake too. Danny is very formuliac. However the way they've presented the show, I'm wondering if it wraps up that way with Martin just trying to wrap up all the plot lines he created. My thing is, i hope I'm wrong. I hope there is some twist that isn't expected because that's what made the books interesting. Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Arsilon - 06-12-2015 With the very ambiguous ending of the Sopranos and the negative reaction that got, do you think that will have any influence on HBO pushing for a more formulaic and "satisfying" ending? How have they ended some of their other big series (at least the ones that clearly had a conclusion and weren't just cancelled)? Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Jakensama - 06-12-2015 I'm pretty sure the Showrunners have discretion to end it how they want to. HBO Wanted 10 seasons but they aren't going to get it (thank God). Endings on their shows run the gamut, they don't control that much.. Six Feet Under is widely considered one of the better TV series ending ever done and it tied up all the characters loose ends, as did the Wire. Rome, Deadwood, Carnivale were all cancelled early so didn't have particularly good endings or any at all. Hopefully Girls ends with Lena Dunham getting hit by a semi truck. Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Bach - 06-12-2015 George takes Liberties but even those will only go so far. Azur is a warrior...this leaves Danny out? Danny certainly can wield a burning sword if she wants to...this puts Danny back in? Jon is about to die from the black watch....this will release even a man as honorable as Ned stark from an oath to the watch. If only death were but a bump in the road. Milisandra is just down the road and to the Myr death is a bump in the road and she favors Jon...could be lucky for Jon? So maybe he is Azur. But wait Jon can't wield a burning sword...so maybe Jon is out? But no one really knows who Jons parents really are? His rumored mother was involved with Targarian and Ned Stark. But what if Honorable Ned really was keeping a promise by raising Jon for a woman he admired who had a Targarian baby? Ned would have to keep it a secret and raise the boy as his own or his own good friend King Robert would have had to kill the boy. Has anyone seen Jon get burnt?....maybe he is back in? For my 2cents, Danny wields dragons and not swords. She needs an honorable counter part that is at least parable to her power level. That boasting gladiator, Joras or Tyrion ain't going to cut it. I'm betting the two of them, Danny and Rez-Jon, combine in some way to route the Night King. They both weild weapons that stop the white walkers. The theorizing is more fun than watching the show.
