Hold one second. It says when "This cycle of Discord ends". The first month of this server is the promotion but I get the distinct impression that it will continue with more cycles after the expansion has been released.

I can see what you mean, but it is not really clear... I'm still going to play just because. If it stays up afterwards then it is a bonus.

Hard to tell what's going on with this Discord server. It's still part of TestEverquest.
I think the message about it being up until the 12th is just part of the testing. I imagine when it opens for real, they'll update that to the real date. There's nothing on Everquest.com that suggests that the contest is currently running, just that the server is still in testing.
I don't think they're actually running the contest on the test server right now.

It is fast. I'm already 7th after one morning of playing. PVP starts at 6 so I havn't seen much action yet, but there are some level 14 people running around already.
I havn't played EQ in a long time, so just getting back into it has been fun for me in a nostalgic kinda way. The new GUI is pretty good when you get used to it, and the game runs way better on the machine I have now compared to my old 800 machine.
I'm having fun.

Ok I freakin bought it. Installing now. Im going for Panzi the Froglok something dont know what the classes are.
LDoY will be a new expansion for me. No idea where the good items are.

This leads me to believe that there is no LDON, Kunark, Velious, Luclin, or POP. Aside from the new lands from these expansions, the sub-50 spells offered from these expansions wont be available either(ie, the velious spells were bought from the gnomes in Iceclad, and POP spells were from the library), unless they put them on new special merchants.
As far as the good items from LOY, I don't think there are any. When I still played EQ, most people had LOY, but only because you needed it to dye your armor =) The only new things offered by the expansion afaik were playable frogloks, and grobb as the froglok town. I'm not aware of any decent dungeons/items from that expansion.

A bunch of SZ people came to the server all massed up already. 15-25+ already and hunting down everyone who is 10+ basically. Half hunt while the other half exp it seems. They have buff bots too lvled up to keep buffing and helping anyone who drops back to lvl 1. Will take some good team work and people helping each other to deal with these guys.
