Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Skelas - 05-18-2015

The whole Dorne storyline is turning into a joke. Jaime and Bronn just waltz into the water gardens, conveniently find Mycella, and then the Sand Snakes show up at the exact same time? Goddamn scooby doo shit. Ruh Roh! Rand Rakes! This show is starting to go off the rails. on top of that, the fight choreography was abysmal.

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Breand - 05-18-2015

I agree, the whole episode felt off...poor direction? The past two episodes basically sucked and they were written and directed by the same two guys. the fight sequence was laughable.

Tyrion talking himself out of getting killed was ridiculous to me as well. I just hate that one of the most important characters who would have been killed in an instant if the story convention didn't need him alive, was even put in that situation. Sloppy writing. Very sloppy.

The rest of this season is back to Beinoff and Weiss writing so hopefully it will get back to being good.

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Vllad - 05-18-2015

Another horrifying wedding.

I am not sure leaving the episode off with Sansa's rape was the brightest idea. This is a prime example of what rookies Weiss and Benioff's are. They got the job because they understood Martin, they had zero experience of producing a show. Their is going to be backlash for that move.

I agree on the Dorne fight. That was their worst fight ever on the show.

The Arya story line was a waste of a season. Same with Tyrion.

Kings Landing at least had some sparks to it.

I hate to say it but with 6 episodes down this season I am not convinced Weiss and Benioff can finish this off effectively. The best stuff of Martin's books are done with exception of Hardhome. It makes me think that their really isn't much left to tell or everyone is bogged down on the same shit.

I would have done this season completely differently.

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Breand - 05-18-2015

They didn't have much to work with. Feast and Dance are SLOW as hell. I think they are doing OK considering, even improving on the books in some places.

I thought I was watching an episode of the shitty Hercules show from the 90s..

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Skelas - 05-19-2015

People seem to be having a meltdown over the sansa wedding night, and I don't get it. What did they expect from Ramsay Bolton? Haven't we seen enough of him to know that he was going to do some twisted shit? Haven't people seen enough of Game of Thrones that they know that the most brutal of events are going to happen? To be honest, that Sansa was still a virgin at this point was quite frankly a miracle in that world. Is it an ugly event? Sure, but it's ugly event number 36B.

You called the backlash Vllad, you are wise in the ways of pitchfork nation.

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Jakensama - 05-19-2015

Well they kinda fucked up the Jamie/Cersei rapey scene last year and there was some outrage about it, and it's a touchy subject for some - so I think the outrage was fairly easily predictable, even if I don't share it.

Great example. The Jamie/Cersei sceene in the books and clearly what the show was trying to do (according to the producers, actors and writers) was have them have sex next to Joffrey's body. How it was edited, shot and acted made it come off like a rape. A simple add on like showing Cersai getting into it would have solved the problem.

What happens though is everyone does this stuff in a bubble and the final product often doesn't come out like they expected.

This Sansa thing is an exact duplication of that same problem. We have talked before in this thread about that fine line of abusing your main characters, their is a point where the audiance is turned off and it isn't entertainment anymore. The Sansa rape was poorly thought out.

1. Ramsay is going to rape whomever he was married to so that was unavoidable.
2. You chose to replace Poole with Sansa so the writers had to know where this was going. That tells me the writers have no clue what their audiance thinks of Sansa. The Sansa character for good or bad has been the punching bag for GOT for years. So you take the punching bag that had to deal with Joffrey and Lannisters for 4 seasons then put her in the position to be the Ramsay Bolton punching bag as well? Viewers will eventually say enough is enough.
3. Why end a show on a rape? They had hundreds of choices to allude to Sansa's abuse or they could have put it earlier in the show but they chose to use rape as cliff hanger. That was like buying up a bunch of commercial time to advertise that your food sucks. Somebody is taking calls from HBO exec's this week.

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Dharus - 05-20-2015

I almost think that the Sansa scene was intended. I admit its a horrible cliffhanger but there is enough room in that scene to imply a rape, the very start of one, or none? I wouldn't be surprised if that scene starts out next showing Greyjoy killing Ramsey at the last second and they flee the castle (ala the books). However, I agree that the Sansa storyline is a mess.

The funny thing is everyone hated Sansa for the longest time because she was just a silly whiney little girl, and then they went through the trouble of turning her to goth Sansa and making it look like she might become a relevant player. Making someone like an unliked character and then raping her is probably not endearing to a segment of your audience.

Well put. What kind of sick fuck do you have to be to do that?

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Skelas - 05-20-2015

They beheaded Ned Stark when every non book reader thought for sure he'd be ok. Rob Stark, his Wife and Catelyn Stark are all brutally murdered at a wedding, and then they sewed his Dire Wolf's head on Rob Starks body. They chopped Jaime Lannisters hand off. Brienne of Tarthe is thrown in a pit with a fricken dress on and a wooden sword to fight a damn bear. The little Arryn kid is a freak that is suckling on his mom WAY to old. Lyssa Aryn is thrown out a hole in the Aerie. Melisandre is burning people alive left and right. Hell, they killed Sansa's Dire Wolf for shits and giggles.

But the rape of Sansa is the tipping point? Again, I just don't see how someone can be upset by this.

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Jakensama - 05-21-2015

Most of those had narrative points, Making Sansa up to be a character with actual agency - which she isnt yet in the books - for half a season and then just topping her down and having her raped in order to make Theon have a breakthrough, especially after last years debacle with the Jamie and Cersi ("It was consensual") rape scene that caused the outstir, is either poor narrative ability or just trying to court controversy to get more attention.

I'm not upset about it - but I see why some people think it wasn't the wisest choice.

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Breand - 05-21-2015

and when you do the scene to end perhaps the worst written and directed episode of the series, that doesn't help either.

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Zouji - 05-21-2015

I have been enjoying the whacky buddy comedy show of Jamie and Bronn. They should get there own spin-off show set in the big city where they get up to more whacky adventures!

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Vllad - 05-27-2015

Some strange things happened this week.

So Ghost comes to rescue Sam Tarly, he growls at the two asses who have beaten Tarly and they run away. What does Ghost do next? He dissapears. He doesn't lick Sam who has collasped on the ground and Sam doesn't even acknowledge Ghost is there. Why is Ghost even there and not with Jon? You have the most watched show on TV but apparently wolves are too expensive.

Who the hell is the guy who unchained Tyrion? Why the hell does he free him? Why was he chained to begin with?

Why poison Bronn then give him the antidote? While I didn't mind looking at those breast I just didn't get the point.

I'm just guessing here and I didn't read the books. This season they seem to be bringing more of the spiritual gods, old religion and its effects on the story into play. Dianara represents the dragons, the "seven" nut jobs in Capitol another, Bran left off meeting the woodland spirits and I'm pretty sure that over watch is going to be where Ghost comes in.

Not sure about the Tyrion thing.

Bronn's character will never believably fall for a woman not his equal or better. That's all they were establishing with that scene.

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Jakensama - 05-27-2015

Nothing this season has very little to do with the books. The stupid sand snakes plotline was just to add some tits without acting ability to the mix. Normally I don't care about throwing some extra tits in the mix, but when a stories been dragging it seems kind of stupid.

I bet they know where they are going and have some kind of agreement with fat fuck to not move the plot along incrementally before he releases his next book.

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - OrsunVZ - 05-28-2015

The sand snake poison thing was beyond ridiculous. The random dude that shows up and frees tyrion... I just don't know. Why was he chained in the first place, nobody else was!
Ghost bothers me less, he could have simply been close by.

2 episodes back to back that have left me, "meh" ...

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Dharus - 05-28-2015

I'm not surprised the show is starting to come off the rails. The books at this point dragged with so many characters and plots. I guess fast tracking it to make it watchable but they really have cheapened it. Some of the changes I could see and deal with them but it just seems somewhat cheap TV now. Maybe because the little plots that Martin had written being lost on the TV guys is what is causing this problem.

The sand snakes and Dorne are probably the worst introduction and plot items this season. Personally, they should have expanded on the Ironborn and Greyjoys. We've seen hardly anything on them, their religion, and the pillaging they were doing at this point. Plus it would have tied in the Theon and Sansa thing. I don't know. Perhaps the sand snakes offered more boob TV opportunity vs bad arse Viking types. They only thing they've got me interested in is Tyrion's story and the way its going they could easily destroy it.

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Jakensama - 05-28-2015

Casting leaks for season 6 were out - looks like the Greyjoy storyline that was left out of the books will be done next season. Because loading up with new characters in a penultimate season is a good thing to do.

Re: HBO - Game of Thrones SPOILERS INSIDE. you have been war - Vllad - 05-31-2015

That was intense.

yup. that's more like it.
